Plan and run a cloud migration: assess applications, apply the 7 Rs migration strategies, design a landing zone, move workloads with minimal disruption and modernize them after the move.
The Cloud Migration & Modernization course in Doha, Qatar guides IT teams through planning and delivering a move to the cloud. Learners study discovery and assessment, application portfolio analysis and the 7 Rs of migration: retire, retain, rehost, relocate, replatform, repurchase and refactor. The course draws on the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework and the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure to explain landing zones, governance foundations and migration waves, and it shows how modernization with containers, managed databases and serverless delivers value after the initial move.
Participants work through a migration case study from start to finish. They build an application inventory, assign a migration strategy to each workload, sketch a landing zone with account or subscription structure, networking and identity, and draft a wave plan with cutover and rollback steps. Tools such as AWS Application Migration Service, AWS Database Migration Service and Azure Migrate are demonstrated. The course is also offered as an in-house program built around an organization's actual application portfolio.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Run discovery and assessment to build an application and dependency inventory
Apply the 7 Rs to choose a migration strategy for each workload
Design a landing zone covering account structure, identity, networking and guardrails
Plan migration waves, cutover windows, testing and rollback procedures
