Advanced Risk & Crisis Management
Lead enterprise-level risk and crisis management: set risk appetite, apply ISO 31000 and COSO ERM, analyze complex and emerging risks quantitatively, and direct strategic crisis response at senior level.
- Advanced
Learn to prepare reliable project estimates and budgets, set contingency, track committed and actual costs, apply earned value and forecast final cost so complex projects stay financially under control.
Complex projects often overrun because early estimates were too optimistic or because cost was not controlled once work began. This course covers the full cycle of project cost management: estimating methods at different project stages, estimate classification, building a cost breakdown structure, setting contingency and management reserve, establishing a time-phased budget, tracking commitments and actual costs, applying earned value management and forecasting the estimate at completion. It explains how cost control links with scheduling, change management and procurement.
Participants practice parametric and bottom-up estimating, build a simple cost-loaded budget and cash flow curve, calculate earned value metrics from progress data and prepare a monthly cost report with forecast and variance explanations. Case studies show how contingency is drawn down and how change orders affect budgets. The course is delivered as a classroom or live online program in Doha and can be offered as an in-house program for organizations that want to use their own cost codes, reports and project data.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Select estimating methods appropriate to project stage and available information
Classify estimates by maturity and expected accuracy range
Build a cost breakdown structure and time-phased project budget
Determine contingency and management reserve based on identified risks
Apply earned value management to measure cost and schedule performance
Forecast estimate at completion and report variances clearly to management

Qatar invests heavily in energy facilities, infrastructure, utilities and public buildings, and these projects are expected to deliver value for public and shareholder funds. Accurate estimates and disciplined cost control help owners make sound investment decisions and help contractors protect their margins. As project controls practice continues to mature in Doha, organizations need professionals who can explain cost positions clearly to decision makers. This course supports prudent use of resources, a theme that runs through Qatar National Vision 2030.
Join a scheduled class at our training center in Doha or attend live online. For organizations, the course can run as an in-house program at your premises or online, tailored to your sector, case studies and timetable.
It is a course on managing project cost from early estimate to final account. It covers estimating methods and classes, budgets and contingency, cost tracking, earned value management, forecasting and cost reporting, with practical calculation exercises.
It is designed for cost engineers and controllers, project managers and engineers, quantity surveyors and estimators, project controls analysts and finance staff who support capital or complex projects.
The calculations use basic arithmetic and simple formulas, such as variances and performance indices. Each formula is explained with worked examples, and the emphasis is on interpreting the results and explaining them to management rather than on complex mathematics.
