Risk & Crisis Management
Learn a practical risk management process to identify, assess and treat risks in your area, and the essentials of preparing for, responding to and recovering from a crisis as part of a team.
Lead enterprise-level risk and crisis management: set risk appetite, apply ISO 31000 and COSO ERM, analyze complex and emerging risks quantitatively, and direct strategic crisis response at senior level.
This advanced course is for experienced managers who are responsible for risk at enterprise or strategic level. It moves beyond risk registers to the governance and judgement that boards and executives need: designing an enterprise risk management framework using ISO 31000 and the COSO ERM framework, defining risk appetite and tolerance, integrating risk with strategy and performance, analyzing interconnected and emerging risks, and using quantitative techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation and scenario analysis. The second half addresses strategic crisis leadership, decision-making under uncertainty and reputation protection.
Participants work through executive-level case studies, build a risk appetite statement, construct bow-tie analyzes for major hazards and take part in a strategic crisis simulation that tests decision-making, stakeholder communication and governance under pressure. Discussion draws on cross-sector examples from energy, finance, healthcare and government. The course runs as a classroom or live online program in Doha and can be delivered as an in-house program for leadership teams that want to test their own risk framework and crisis arrangements.
