Learn to prepare for, detect, contain, eradicate and recover from cyber incidents using the NIST SP 800-61 lifecycle, with playbooks, tabletop exercises and clear communication with stakeholders.
The Cybersecurity Incident Response course in Doha, Qatar teaches teams how to handle a security incident from the first alert to the final lessons-learned meeting. It follows the incident response lifecycle described in NIST Special Publication 800-61: preparation; detection and analysis; containment, eradication and recovery; and post-incident activity. Learners also see how the latest revision of that guidance aligns incident response with the Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover functions of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0.
Practical work centers on realistic scenarios such as ransomware, business email compromise, compromised cloud accounts and insider data theft. Participants build an incident response plan and playbooks, analyze evidence to scope an incident, choose containment options, coordinate with legal, management and communications teams, and run a tabletop exercise. Attention is given to documentation and reporting obligations. The course can also be delivered as an in-house program, using an organization's own plan, escalation paths and likely threat scenarios.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain each phase of the NIST SP 800-61 incident response lifecycle
Build an incident response plan, team structure and severity classification scheme
Detect and analyze incidents using logs, alerts and indicators of compromise
Select containment, eradication and recovery actions that limit business impact
Coordinate communication with management, legal, regulators and external parties
Run tabletop exercises and post-incident reviews to improve readiness
This course is intended for professionals who lead, take part in or support the response to cybersecurity incidents.

Digital services now underpin government, banking, energy, healthcare, logistics and hospitality in Qatar, so a serious cyber incident can disrupt operations and public trust quickly. National cybersecurity guidance from the National Cyber Security Agency emphasizes preparedness and timely reporting of incidents. Teams trained in a structured, internationally recognized response process can limit damage and recover faster, supporting the resilient digital economy envisaged in Qatar National Vision 2030.
