Select the right tool for each job, inspect hand and power tools before use, keep guards in place, control electrical, kickback, vibration and noise risks, and wear the correct PPE.
The Hand and Power Tool Safety course in Doha, Qatar addresses the everyday tools behind many cuts, eye injuries, electric shocks and amputations on construction sites and in workshops. Hammers, chisels, knives and spanners cause harm when misused or poorly maintained, while grinders, saws, drills and nail guns add electrical, rotating and projectile hazards. The course explains how to choose the right tool for the task, inspect it, use it correctly and store it safely.
Sessions combine demonstrations, defect-spotting with real or photographed tools, and short case studies. Learners cover electrical safety using reduced voltage or residual current devices, battery tool care, abrasive wheel and disc selection, guards and kickback on saws and grinders, and pneumatic tool hazards. Hand-arm vibration and noise are explained with simple exposure management principles, alongside eye, hand and hearing protection. Organizations can run the course as an in-house program based on the tools their teams use.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Select appropriate hand and power tools for common construction tasks
Inspect tools, cables and plugs before use and remove defective items
Use guards correctly and control kickback on grinders and saws
Apply electrical protection such as residual current devices and reduced voltage
Recognize hand-arm vibration and noise risks and ways to reduce exposure
Choose PPE for eyes, hands and hearing suited to each tool

Hand and power tools are used on every construction, fit-out, maintenance and facilities job across Qatar, often by large teams working to tight programs. Heat and dust can damage cables and batteries and tempt workers to remove PPE. Qatar's Ministry of Labour expects employers to provide safe equipment and training, and practical tool safety awareness reduces the frequent cuts, eye injuries and shocks that disrupt projects and harm workers.
