Construction Site Safety Awareness
Recognize the main hazards on a construction site, follow site rules and safe systems of work, and know how to report unsafe conditions and respond to emergencies from your first day.

Check that a scaffold is tagged and fit for use, recognize missing guardrails, boards and ties, use scaffolds and mobile towers safely, and report defects without altering the structure.
The Scaffolding Safety Awareness course in Doha, Qatar is written for the people who use scaffolds every day, not for scaffold erectors or inspectors. Painters, masons, electricians, insulators and supervisors spend long periods on scaffolds, and many incidents happen because a user climbs onto an incomplete structure, removes a board or overloads a platform. The course explains what a safe scaffold looks like, how scaffold tag systems show whether it is ready for use, and why only competent scaffolders may erect, alter or dismantle it.
Learners study photographs of good and defective scaffolds, practice a user's pre-use visual check and discuss real types of collapse and fall. Topics include guardrails and toe boards, fully boarded platforms, safe access ladders, ties, base plates and sole boards, load classes and the specific hazards of mobile aluminum towers. Emphasis is placed on stopping work and reporting rather than fixing problems yourself. Organizations can run the course as an in-house program aligned with their own scaffold tagging procedure.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain the difference between scaffold users, erectors and inspectors
Read scaffold tags and confirm a scaffold is cleared for use
Carry out a user's visual check of guardrails, boards, access and base
Recognize overloading and respect the scaffold's intended load class
Use mobile access towers safely, including wheel locks and outriggers
Report scaffold defects and never alter or remove components
This course is designed for workers and supervisors who work from scaffolds but do not erect or inspect them.
Masons, plasterers, painters and facade installers

Learning from scaffold incidents
Scaffolding is used daily on Qatar's building, infrastructure and industrial maintenance projects, from facade work in Doha to shutdowns at plants in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed. Many workers on these scaffolds are users rather than scaffolders, and they need to know when a structure is safe to climb. Hot weather, wind and dust add pressure on both structures and people. Clear user awareness supports employers in meeting the occupational safety expectations of Qatar's Ministry of Labour.
