Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Understand how an occupational health and safety management system works, from policy and risk control to monitoring and review, using ISO 45001 concepts and the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.
Recognize common workplace hazards, understand basic duties for health and safety at work, and know how to work safely, report concerns and respond to emergencies in any workplace.
The Basic Health and Safety Awareness course in Doha, Qatar is an entry-level program that gives any employee a clear introduction to health and safety at work. It brings together workplace safety awareness and workplace hazard awareness in one practical session: what a hazard is, how accidents and ill health happen, and what everyone can do to prevent them. Learners look at slips and trips, manual handling, electricity, fire, chemicals and heat, and learn why simple daily behaviors make the biggest difference to keeping people safe.
Teaching is interactive and uses picture-based hazard spotting, short case studies and group discussion rather than long lectures, so it suits office, site and service staff alike. No previous safety training is needed. The course is a sensible first step before more specific courses, and learners who later want an internationally recognized general safety qualification can move on to the NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) course at Leaders. Organizations can also book it as an in-house program so whole teams share the same safety language.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain what health and safety at work means and why it matters to everyone
Identify common workplace hazards, including physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic hazards

Qatar's workforce spans construction sites, oil and gas facilities, warehouses, hotels, hospitals and offices, and many workers join from different countries with different safety backgrounds. A shared foundation in workplace safety awareness helps teams understand the same rules from the first day. Summer heat adds real risk to outdoor and physical work, and the Ministry of Labour and the Civil Defence oversee workplace and fire safety, so basic awareness supports both compliance and Qatar National Vision 2030 goals for a healthy workforce.
