Learn how procurement works in the oil and gas industry, from vendor qualification and technical bid evaluation to long-lead equipment, expediting, inspection and in-country value requirements.
Procurement in the oil and gas industry has its own demands: highly engineered equipment, strict technical and safety standards, long lead times, specialized vendors and intense schedule pressure on projects and shutdowns. This course explains how procurement is organized across upstream, midstream and downstream operations and on capital projects. It covers vendor qualification, material requisitions, technical and commercial bid evaluation, purchase order management, expediting, inspection and testing, logistics of heavy and critical items, and supporting local content and in-country value expectations.
Participants work through realistic scenarios such as evaluating competing bids for rotating equipment, building an expediting plan for long-lead items and responding to a vendor delay that threatens a turnaround. The course explains how procurement interfaces with engineering, construction, maintenance and HSE teams. It is delivered as a classroom or live online program in Doha and can run as an in-house program for energy organizations and contractors that want the content tailored to their own procurement procedures and project types.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
