- 24 hours over 6 weeks (Fridays, 2–6 PM)
Organize your workload, information and priorities more effectively, and develop the behavioral skills to work with different personalities, influence executives and stay resilient under pressure.
This course combines two sets of skills that determine how effective an administrative professional or executive secretary can be. The organizing side covers personal planning systems, prioritizing competing demands, managing interruptions and structuring information so that nothing is lost. The behavioral side covers understanding personal and behavior styles, adapting to different executives and colleagues, influencing without formal authority, managing conflict, and building the resilience and emotional intelligence needed in demanding support roles.
The course is reflective as well as practical. Participants complete a behavior style profile, analyze a week of their own workload, build a prioritization system, and practice conversations such as pushing back on unrealistic deadlines or responding to a frustrated manager. Small-group discussions allow them to share approaches that work in their offices. The course can run as an in-house program, tailored to the organization's working culture and the support structures its executives use.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Build a personal organizing system for tasks, deadlines and follow-ups
Prioritize competing requests using urgency, importance and impact
Structure information and files so they can be retrieved quickly
Recognize behavior styles and adapt communication to different people
