Learn to plan and conduct information security audits, test controls, gather evidence and report findings, while applying structured IT risk management methods such as ISO/IEC 27005 and NIST.
The Security Auditing and Risk Management course in Doha, Qatar brings together two disciplines that assure leadership that information risks are understood and controls actually work. On the risk side, learners apply structured methods drawn from ISO/IEC 27005, ISO 31000 and NIST SP 800-30 to identify, analyze and evaluate IT and cyber risks. On the audit side, they learn how to plan a risk-based audit, define scope and criteria, test the design and operating effectiveness of controls, and collect sufficient, reliable evidence.
Teaching is built around a realistic case organization. Participants build a risk assessment, select controls to audit, design test procedures for areas such as access management, change management, backup and logging, and write audit findings with condition, criteria, cause, effect and recommendation. The course also explains the three lines model and how internal audit, compliance and security functions work together. It can be run as an in-house program for organizations that want to use their own audit universe and risk register.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Apply a structured IT risk assessment method based on ISO/IEC 27005 and NIST SP 800-30
Plan a risk-based information security audit with clear scope, objectives and criteria

Regulated sectors in Qatar, such as banking, insurance, energy and government services, expect independent assurance that information security risks are managed and controls are effective. As digital transformation advances under Qatar National Vision 2030, boards and audit committees ask sharper questions about cyber risk. Professionals who can assess IT risk and audit security controls rigorously help organizations respond to national cybersecurity guidance from Qatar's National Cyber Security Agency and strengthen governance across public and private institutions.
