Cost Analysis to Support Strategic Decisions
Use cost behavior, relevant costing, activity-based costing, target costing and profitability analysis to support pricing, sourcing, product and investment decisions.
Link strategy to financial plans, build integrated budgets and rolling forecasts, and design KPI-driven management reports that help leadership monitor performance and act.
Budgeting, Planning & Management Reporting takes an organization-wide view of financial planning and performance management. It shows how strategic objectives are translated into integrated operating, capital and cash budgets, how driver-based models and rolling forecasts keep plans relevant, and how performance is communicated through KPIs, balanced scorecards and management reporting packs. Participants also examine alternatives to traditional annual budgeting and the role of finance business partners in challenging assumptions and supporting decisions across the organization.
Participants work through an integrated case in which they build a driver-based plan, convert it into a rolling forecast and design a monthly management report with commentary for an executive team. Exercises cover selecting meaningful KPIs, presenting variances clearly and writing concise narrative that explains performance and recommends action. Practical templates support each stage. The course can be delivered as an in-house program that reviews and improves an organization's existing planning calendar, forecast process and management reporting pack.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Build driver-based planning models that respond to changing assumptions
