Understand how oil, gas and power risks are insured, including property damage, control of well, business interruption, liability and construction covers, and how underwriting and claims work in practice.
This Energy Insurance course explains how risks in the oil, gas, petrochemical and power sectors are identified, transferred and insured. It covers the main classes of energy insurance, including upstream physical damage and control of well cover, offshore construction, downstream property damage and business interruption, and third-party liability. Participants also learn how the energy insurance market operates, the roles of brokers, underwriters, reinsurers and loss adjusters, and why high values and complex exposures make specialist placement necessary.
The course combines technical explanation with case studies of major energy losses and the claims that followed. Participants review sample policy wordings, discuss risk survey findings, consider how deductibles, limits and exclusions affect recovery, and walk through the claims process from notification to settlement. As an in-house program, it can be tailored for insurers, brokers, energy operators and contractors, focusing on the assets and contracts most relevant to each organization.

Energy is the foundation of Qatar's economy, with large-scale natural gas and LNG production, offshore fields, petrochemical plants and power and water facilities. These assets carry high values and complex exposures, from offshore operations to processing and export infrastructure, and insuring them requires specialist knowledge. Insurers, brokers, operators and contractors in Qatar need professionals who understand energy covers, contractual indemnities and claims practice, supporting the economic development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
