Understand how to manage physical assets to deliver value across their life cycle, using the ISO 55000 series to link asset decisions, risk, maintenance, life cycle cost and organizational objectives.
Asset management is the coordinated activity of an organization to realize value from its assets. This course introduces the principles and practice of managing physical assets such as plant, infrastructure, buildings, fleets and equipment across their whole life cycle, from planning and acquisition through operation and maintenance to renewal and disposal. It explains the ISO 55000 series of international standards, the strategic asset management plan, and how asset management balances cost, risk and performance to support organizational objectives.
Participants apply the concepts through exercises such as building a line of sight from organizational objectives to asset plans, ranking assets by criticality, comparing maintenance strategies and carrying out a simple life cycle cost comparison between repair and replacement. Discussion also covers asset information, data quality and the role of leadership and culture. The course runs as a classroom or live online program in Doha and can be delivered as an in-house program for organizations that want to apply the principles to their own asset portfolio.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain asset management concepts, terminology and the structure of the ISO 55000 series

Qatar has built extensive infrastructure and industrial capacity, including energy facilities, utilities networks, transport systems, hospitals, schools and public buildings. Getting reliable performance and value from these assets over decades depends on sound asset management, not only on successful construction. As attention shifts from building new facilities to operating and sustaining them, organizations in Doha need professionals who can plan maintenance and investment wisely. This course supports that transition and the long-term sustainability goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
