Competency Based Interviewing Skills
Plan and conduct competency-based interviews, write behavioral questions, probe for evidence using the STAR method and score candidates consistently against a competency framework.
Gather accurate information about jobs using interviews, questionnaires and observation, and turn it into clear, consistent job descriptions and person specifications that support HR decisions.
This Job Analysis and Job Description Techniques course teaches participants how to study a job systematically and document it well. It explains why accurate job information underpins recruitment, job evaluation, performance management, training and organizational design, and what goes wrong when job descriptions are outdated or vague. Participants learn the main data collection methods, how to separate tasks from responsibilities and outcomes, and how to identify the knowledge, skills and competencies a role genuinely requires.
The course is workshop-based. Participants plan a job analysis exercise, practice job analysis interviews, design a short questionnaire and then write and peer-review job descriptions and person specifications using a consistent template. They also look at how to maintain a library of job descriptions as roles change. As an in-house program, the course can focus on the organization's own job families, templates and competency framework.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain how job analysis supports recruitment, grading, performance and training
Plan a job analysis project, including scope, stakeholders and methods
Collect job data through interviews, questionnaires, observation and work diaries

Using job data in HR systems
Many organizations in Qatar are restructuring, growing or formalising their HR systems, and accurate job documentation is the starting point for grading, recruitment and career paths. Clear job descriptions help multinational teams understand expectations, support employment contracts and make it easier to identify roles suitable for developing national talent under workforce nationalisation goals. Government entities, energy companies and service organizations all benefit from consistent role definitions that reflect how work is actually done.
