Networking Fundamentals
Understand how computer networks carry data, from cabling and switches to IP addresses and the internet, and build, test and document a small office network with confidence.

Automate routine network tasks using Python, Ansible and device APIs, work with JSON and YAML data, and understand NETCONF and RESTCONF basics for safe, repeatable changes.
The Network Automation Fundamentals course in Doha, Qatar introduces network engineers to the tools and habits that replace repetitive manual configuration with reliable, repeatable workflows. Participants learn why automation matters for consistency and speed, how structured data formats such as JSON and YAML describe network intent, and how devices can be managed through SSH libraries, REST APIs and model-driven protocols. The course starts from the basics, so engineers with strong networking skills but little programming experience can follow comfortably.
Lab work is central. Learners write Python scripts using libraries such as Netmiko and Requests to collect device output and push simple changes, build Ansible playbooks and inventories, and make NETCONF and RESTCONF calls against YANG-modeled devices. They also use Git for version control and learn to test changes in a lab before production. Safe practice, including dry runs, backups and peer review, is stressed throughout. The course can be delivered as an in-house program for organizations, using the client's own device types and routine tasks.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain the benefits, risks and common use cases of network automation
Read and write JSON and YAML data that describe network configuration
Write basic Python scripts to connect to devices and collect or change configuration
Build Ansible inventories and playbooks for repeatable network tasks
Use REST APIs, NETCONF and RESTCONF with YANG data models at a basic level
Manage scripts and configurations with Git version control
Apply safe automation practices such as backups, dry runs and staged rollouts
This course is for networking professionals ready to start automating their daily work.

As Qatar's government services, banks, telecom providers and energy companies expand their networks and data centers, manual configuration struggles to keep pace with the number of devices and changes. Automation helps teams deliver changes faster, apply consistent security settings, and reduce outages caused by human error. Building these skills locally supports the knowledge-based economy and advanced digital capability that Qatar National Vision 2030 aims for, and prepares engineers for the software-driven networks now becoming standard.
