International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Apply key IFRS standards in practice, including revenue, leases, financial instruments, impairment and presentation, so your financial statements are accurate and compliant.
Strengthen credit, pricing and balance sheet decisions by applying financial statement analysis, cash flow lending, risk-adjusted return measures and Basel III principles.
Financial Decision Making for Bankers focuses on the decisions bankers make every day: whether to lend, how to structure and price a facility, and how individual transactions affect the bank's capital, liquidity and profitability. Participants analyze corporate borrowers' financial statements and cash flows, assess repayment capacity, and apply risk-adjusted return measures. The course also explains asset and liability management, interest rate risk in the banking book and the Basel III framework, so that frontline and middle-office staff understand the wider balance sheet impact of their choices.
The program is case-driven. Learners work through credit applications, build cash flow projections, calculate pricing using cost of funds, expected loss and capital charges, and debate approval decisions in committee-style exercises. Islamic banking structures are discussed where relevant to financing decisions. The course can run as an in-house program for a bank or financial institution, with cases adapted to its client segments, credit policies and product range, and with sensitive internal data kept within the organization.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Analyze corporate borrowers' financial statements and cash flows to assess repayment capacity
Structure credit facilities with appropriate covenants, security and tenor
Price loans using cost of funds, expected loss and capital consumption
Apply RAROC and related measures to evaluate relationship profitability
