Supervisory, Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring
Learn to supervise teams day to day and develop people through coaching and mentoring, using the GROW model, situational leadership and structured feedback on the job.
Develop the competencies to lead innovation: foster creativity and psychological safety, apply design thinking, run small experiments and turn promising ideas into practical improvements.
Innovative Leadership Competencies focuses on what leaders do to make innovation happen in their teams and organizations. Rather than treating innovation as the job of a specialist unit, the course develops the everyday competencies that encourage new ideas: curiosity, openness to challenge, creating psychological safety, framing problems well, testing ideas quickly and managing the risks of new approaches. Participants also look at how digital technologies are changing services and operations, and what this means for leaders.
The course is workshop-based and hands-on throughout. Participants practice each design thinking stage on a real workplace challenge, use ideation techniques, build simple prototypes and plan low-cost experiments. They also assess the innovation climate in their own teams and identify barriers to change. Organizations can run the course as an in-house program, focusing on their own improvement challenges and innovation strategy.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Describe the core competencies and mindsets of innovative leaders
Create psychological safety so team members share ideas and challenge assumptions
Apply design thinking to understand users and reframe problems
Use structured ideation techniques to generate and select ideas
Plan rapid, low-cost experiments to test ideas and learn quickly
Lead the adoption of innovations while managing risk and resistance
