The Power of Leaders
Understand where a leader's power comes from and use it ethically: build influence, read organizational politics, persuade stakeholders and develop a confident executive presence.
Explore the widely used Five Practices model of exemplary leadership and turn it into everyday behaviors: clarifying your values, inspiring a shared vision and enabling others to act.
The Leadership Challenge course is built around the widely used Five Practices model of exemplary leadership developed by James Kouzes and Barry Posner: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act and Encourage the Heart. The model is based on the idea that leadership is a set of observable, learnable behaviors rather than a matter of title or personality, and that credibility is the foundation on which people choose to follow a leader.
Participants work through each practice in turn, reflecting on their own leadership experiences, discussing case examples and planning specific behaviors to practice at work. Activities include values clarification, vision-writing exercises and peer coaching. This is an independent course that draws on the published model; it is not an official licensed workshop of the model's publishers. It can also be run as an in-house program for organizations wishing to build a shared leadership language.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Explain the Five Practices of exemplary leadership and the behaviors behind each
Clarify personal leadership values and align daily actions with them

Qatar's organizations bring together people from many nationalities and professional backgrounds, which makes shared values, clear vision and trust especially important for effective teamwork. A common behavioral model of leadership helps organizations in government, energy, education, healthcare and the private sector develop leaders consistently at every level. This supports the emphasis that Qatar National Vision 2030 places on developing capable Qatari and resident talent who can lead institutions through continuing growth and change.
